PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate waste in a heat transfer film, by surely supplying cut paper. SOLUTION: First an ASF roller 31 is rotated by driving a first drive system 1, cut paper 37, passing between the ASF roller 31 and a separating pad 32, is fed out toward a nip of a recording roller 33 and a thermal head 38. When a sensor 42 detects a tip end of the cut paper, driving of a second drive system 11 is started. In this way, the ASF roller 31 and the recording roller 33 are rotated simultaneously. In the case of conveying the cut paper 37 by a prescribed distance X, the first drive system 1 is stopped, and only the ASF roller 31 is stopped. Successively the second drive system 11 is driven, the recording roller 33 and a winding roller 35 are rotated. Here, printing is performed on the cut paper by the thermal head 38.
