PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound of a specific azacyclic compound, useful as an irritant of recognition function of the forebrain and the hippocampus in a mammal, especially for therapy of Alzheimer's disease, or for therapy of grave painful state and glaucoma. SOLUTION: This new compound is represented by formula I (Z1 is O or S; R is H, a halogen or the like; R1 is H, a 1-5C alkyl or the like; R5 and R6 are each H, a 1-5C alkyl or the like), e.g. 3- 3-[2-(1-pyrrolidinyl)ethoxy]-1,2,5- thiadazol-4-yl}-1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-1-methylpyridine. The compound of formula I is obtained by oxidizing a compound of formula II (R2 is a 1-5C alkyl or the like), [e.g. 3-(3-methylthio-1,2,5-thiadiazol-4-yl)-1,2,5,6-teterahydro-1- methylpyridine oxalate], by a standard procedure to provide a compound of formula III, and substituting SO2-R2 in the compound of formula III with a proper nucleophilic reagent. |
