PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for a light source capable of preventing a body and a cover and a lead electrode from being separated carelessly, in the case where a sliding direction of the body and the cover is substantially orthogonal to an introducing direction of the electrode, and to provide a luminaire using the socket. SOLUTION: This socket is provided with a body 1 having a component storing part, a lead wire introducing hole formed to be directed toward the storing part, and a body locking part attached to a luminaire main body provided in a direction orthogonal to the lead wire introducing hole, and a cover 2 having a cover locking part formed in a direction same as that of the body locking part and mounted on the luminaire main body, and a substantially U-shaped guide provided to face to the lead wire introducing hole of the body 1 and formed to make its bottom part serve as a body locking side so as to cover the component storing part of the body 1.
