PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup which can prevent trouble due to deformation (plastic deformation) of a suspension wire. SOLUTION: The optical pickup 100 has a lens holder 1 which holds an objective 7 and a damper base 2 which supports the lens holder 1 through four straight suspension wires 6. Each suspension wire 6 is made of shape memory alloy such as Ni-Ti based alloy and restores itself to its memorized shape (original shape) with the Joule heat generated by electrifying the suspension wires 6.
