PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil carrying lifter capable of preventing flaw to a coil end during suspending a coil. SOLUTION: In a coil carrying lifter which has clamping pawls 4 provided on the inner faces at the lower ends of a pair of right and left arms 3, freely approachable and separatable, hung down from a lifter main body 2 movably suspended and inserted in an inner-diameter space of a coil interposed between both arms 3, 3 for engaging and supporting a coil, detectors 5 for detecting that the arm 3 approaches to the coil end to stop the approaching operation of the arms 3, 3 and elastic shock absorbing materials 6 for preventing the coil end from being in direct contact with the inner faces of the arms 3 are mounted inside the arms 3.
