PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strip straightening device that can improve the flatness of strips in both longitudinal and lateral directions. SOLUTION: On the upstream of straightening rollers 11 to 17 staggered, two pairs of pre-straightening rollers 21 to 24 are arranged so as to rotate as sandwiching a strip Z from both surfaces in opposed pairs. Each pair of pre-straightening rollers has one roller, or typically the pre-straightening roller 22, 23, shaped to come into local pressure contact with the strip Z in the width direction thereof.
