PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make improvement of a fixing property attainable by obtaining a wide fixing nip. SOLUTION: In the fixing device, provided with heating means, and pressure means held in press contact with the heating means, a pressure roller is that the elastic layer and the releasing layer is respectively and successively laid over a core bar, and at the nip part formed by the heating means and the pressure means, the unfixed toner image is fixed on transfer material, inserting/ transporting the transfer material, the hardness of material forming the releasing layer on the surface of pressure means is in the range of HsA hardness 65 deg. to 90 deg., or the tensile stress (Mioo) is in the range of 25 to 140 kgf/cm2.
