PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device making loss of heat energy minimized. SOLUTION: In the fixing device of the induction heating type fixing a toner image on recording material by transporting/holding the recording material, and inserting/transporting between recording material S and a heating roller 3, a coil unit 101 generating induction magnetic flux is disposed outside the heating roller, on the upstream side of the nip part formed between the heating roller and the pressure roller in the roller rotary direction. In such a manner, the device is made possible to concentrately heat the heating roller, and the heat can be efficiently fed on the recording material. When the coil unit 101 can be disposed in plural along the length direction of the roller, efficient heating in accordance with the size of recording material can be insured.
