PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a false nail which is capable of printing and displaying an arbitrary image selected and determined by a user with high water resistance and scratching resistance, is easily removable when there is no more need and eliminates the possibility of making the circumference, etc., of the nail seen dirty. SOLUTION: A prescribed image is printed and displayed, by using an anionic coloring agent on a printing receptive layer 4 which contains a cationic acrylic resin and an acrylic resin having film formability and is formed on one surface of a base material 1 constituting the false nail. An aqueous coating liquid containing a transparent resin is applied thereto and is dried, to form a top coating layer 5.
