PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mail management method for a system provided with a plurality of kinds of mail functions where a reception history or a transmis sion history of mails can be referenced at once in addition to reference by the types of mails and a memory resource to store received or transmitted mails can effectively be utilized. SOLUTION: A received or transmitted mail is stored in a mail memory in the same area in time series irrespective of the type of the mail. That is, the mail memory is divided into transmission and reception memories, and transmission mails are, irrespective of the types of the mails, stored in the transmission mail memory in the order of transmission together with history information. Received mails are, irrespective of the types of the mails, stored in the reception mail memory in the order of reception together with history information. Since they are stored with information denoting the types of mails (mail 1, mail 2, mail 3), mail of a desired mail type can be called.
