PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit for clutch releasing with a low cost and moreover with superior durability. SOLUTION: In this bearing unit, an inner ring (8) forming a release bearing 4 is formed by applying deformation processing to a steel plate by pressing. The steel plate contains 0.7 to 0.9 wt.% C, 0.3 to 0.9 wt.% Mn 0.3 to 1.0 wt.% Cr, 0.01 to 0.15 wt.% Si with the remainder Fe and inevitable impurities. In addition, the content of oxygen in the steel plate is set to 30 ppm or less.
