PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the degree of freedoms of an installing state of a pulse tube while maintaining a refrigerating performance. SOLUTION: In the pulse tube refrigerator 101, a second high temperature end 3b of a pulse tube 3 is disposed above a second low temperature end 3a, and the tube 3 is inclined so that an angle of an acute angle side of an angle formed between an axial line (a cylindrical axis L1 of the tube 3) for connecting the end 3b to the end 3a and a vertical axis L0 is in a range of 70 deg. or below. Since the tube can be inclined and disposed without impairing refrigerating performance by setting an oblique angle to 70 deg. or below, the refrigerator can be mounted at an apparatus having a dimensional limit in a heightwise direction which could not have been mounted in a conventional pulse tube refrigerator.
