PURPOSE: A computer system and method for self-testing/recovering a system error is provided for detecting an error, informing the error to a user, analyzing a reason of the error and recovering the error to a normal state without affecting other programs. CONSTITUTION: A computer hardware system includes a controller(21), a main memory apparatus(22) connected with the controller(21) through a system bus, a sub-memory apparatus(23), an input and output apparatus(24), a CD ROM(25) and a peripheral apparatus(26). The sub-memory apparatus(23) is a memory apparatus for storing a program and data files which are used for driving a hard disk drive, a floppy disk drive, a tape drive, etc.
