PURPOSE: A starting material for the production of polyorganosilsesquioxanes and process for producing the same are provided which produce polyorganosilsesquioxanes easy to handle and capable of controlling the polymerization speed in high yield. CONSTITUTION: The starting material is one selected from materials represented by the formula (1), (2) and (3), In formula, R1 and R2 in which one is nonsubstituted or substituted monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon, another is nonsubstituted or substituted monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon, X is H, Cl, OH, NH2 or COOH, R is H, alkyl, acetate or alkali metal; R1, R2 are H, lower alkyl such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, aromatic compounds such as phenyl or aryl and cyclo compound; In formula, n is an integer having various values according to light emitting times irradiated in the synthetic process.
