PURPOSE: An automatic water save type washing apparatus for toiletstool and a method there of are provided to control the amount of wash water while a smell detect sensor divides excrements and urine. CONSTITUTION: An automatic water save type washing apparatus for toiletstool comprises; a solenoid valve(20) that opens and shuts according to the control signal and then controls the amount of wash water; a console box(30) that is installed in the upper part of toiletstool and decides whether the toiletstool is using or not and then controls the amount of wash water by controlling the solenoid valve. A method for the automatic water save type washing apparatus comprises the steps of; confirming periodically whether an user is in the restroom or not; dividing the excrements and urine by sensing whether the methane gas is in the restroom or not using the smell detect sensor when the user is in the restroom; in case of the excrements, opening a first and a second chamber and supplying wash water and then washing the toiletstool; in case of urine, opening only the first chamber(25a) and supplying wash water and then washing the toiletstool.
