The present invention relates to a process for protecting and cleaning surfaces of material members, which are exposed to the damaging action of water-soluble salts present therein. More specifically, the process comprises the assessment of the saturation vapour content of salt or salts present in the surface layer of the material, the provision of a buffer zone between the surface layer and the environment, the climate in the buffer zone being insulated from the environment, and the regulation of the climate in the buffer zone on the basis of the assessed saturation vapour content. The invention also relates to a method for determining the saturation vapour content of salt present in a material surface, which method is particularly usable for determining saturation vapour contents in the above-mentioned process according to the invention. |
