PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve ink jet recording characteristics, and at the same time, ensure an excellent surface strength wherein an excellent recorded image is hard to separate, by adding both of a polyvinyl alcohol based water-soluble resin and an emulsion resin as a binder resin which is provided on a base material. SOLUTION: In this medium for ink jet recording, at least on one surface of a base material, at least an ink receiving layer is laminated. The base material comprises a base paper of which the major component is made of various kinds of pulps or the like, or a coated paper or the like such as an art paper. In this case, as a binder resin, a polyvinyl alcohol based water-soluble resin is adopted. Especially, when a partially saponified PVA and a carboxylic acid modified PVA are used, the bonding property is favorable. Then, as the emulsion resin which can be jointly used with the water-soluble resin, a synthetic resin based adhesive, e.g. such as a maleic acid anhydride can be adopted. Also, as the binder whole body in the ink receiving layer, the emulsion resin occupied ratio is set at 5 to 40 wt.% by a weight percentage. |
