PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for drying waste are provided to efficiently dry waste by dry hot wind, and economize on energy by collecting waste heat for compensating a heat generator. CONSTITUTION: A method for drying waste includes the steps of sucking air and dehumidifying the same for supplying a heat generator(20) with the dehumidified air, heating the dehumidified air at 100°C - 150°C for supplying through hot wind supply pipe arranged in a dry chamber, drying waste by the hot wind and collecting discharged heat for compensating the heat generator, discharging pure air into atmosphere after removing a bad smell by passing the air deprived of heat through water of normal temperature including charcoal powder.
