GELATION TIME ADJUSTING METHOD FOR EPOXY RESIN COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the gelation time of an epoxy resin composition useful for paint or the like by making the expoxy resin composition include a specific hardening retarder. SOLUTION: In this epoxy resin composition including (A) an epoxy resin composition including a polyepoxide and (B) a hardening retarder including boric acid or maleic acid with the proviso that >=0.01 mole of the hardening retarder is included per epoxide equivalent when the component B is boric acid, the gelation time is adjusted by increasing gelation time caused from increase of a concentration of the component B or decreasing the gelation time by lowering the concentration of the component B. In a preferable case, <2 pts of the component B is included per 100 pts.wt of the polyepoxide and the component B includes a mixture of boric acid and at least a kind of acids having a weak nucleophilic anion, and the component A includes a solution of a catalyst for epoxy resin.
