A control unit for an implantable pump with a pressurized medicament reservoir having a valve with two preset flow rates, and a command module issuing a signal to the valve to obtain a desired dose, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) the novel control unit where the signal is cyclical and places the valve in one of its states during a period; (2) the novel control unit where the cyclical signal moves the valve between its two flow rates; (3) the novel control unit which can deliver a normal dose and a larger than normal dose; (4) delivering a using the device of (1); and (5) delivering a dose using the novel control unit or the control unit of any of (1)-(3) by accumulating doses and then delivering them as a bolus.
