DATA RECORDING AND REPRODUCING APPARATUS AND OPERATING STATE INDICATING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clearly indicate the operating conditions of a plurality of input/ output ports in an A/V server. SOLUTION: The A/V server having a plurality of simultaneously operable input/output ports, e.g. four ports is provided with a display 90. The display 90 has a plurality of display areas corresponding to the ports, each area indicates a port name 100, a present time code 101 of A/V data inputted/ outputted to the port, a status 103, and an audio level metal 104 of each channel of the port, together with the operating condition 102 of the port. A controller for controlling the display 90 receives a flag indicating the operating condition from each port and forms, based on the flag, indication data for the display 90. Various conditions i.e., record, reproduction, stop, still picture and forward/ reverse speed changed reproduction are shown each as an operating condition 102 with an image on the display 90. Thus the operating condition of each port can be known easily and clearly.
