MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a magnetic recording medium capable of preventing illicit actions such as forgery and falsification, capable of easily and reliably forming a compression pattern and excellent in magnetic characteristics such as output. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a 1st magnetic layer 31 with prescribed magnetic information temporarily recorded beforehand and a 2nd magnetic layer 35 formed on the 1st magnetic layer 31 directly or by way of a middle layer. The 2nd magnetic layer 35 is subjected to magnetic field orientation while it is in the undried state after coating and has fixed information recorded by the formation of a compression pattern of magnetic fine particles in accordance with the magnetic information of the 1st magnetic layer 31. The surface to be coated with the 2nd magnetic layer 35 is smooth.
