<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly transmit data when a format which can be transmitted by a transmiotter does not match with a format which can be received by a receiver by providing a means for investigating a function mounted to electronic equipment on a network and a means for instructing and controlling data transmission to another equipment on the network. SOLUTION: On a network, source equipment 1, destination equipment 2 and a controller 3 are connected with an IEEE1394 bus 4. The controller 3 is provided with a block 32 holding format-convertible format information, a data format-converting block 34, etc. Then, the controller 3 is provided with a function for investigating a function mounted to equipment on the network, a function for converting the format of data, a function for instructing and controlling data transmission to the equipment on the network, and a function provided with information on a convertible data format and providing the information in accordance with a request.</p> |
