PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a standby power interrupter easy to use and capable of efficiently preventing waste of power by enabling standby power in an elec tric apparatus to be readily interrupted, and a standby power detector capable of easily informing of standby power consumption in an electric apparatus and of its rough value. SOLUTION: This standby power interrupter 1 is made of a case body 2 made of an insulating material with a switch 3 mounted on a front portion thereof operably from the front, a connection cord 5 connected to one end part of the switch 3 rearwardly projecting from a rear part of the case body 2 and having an attachment plug 6 provided on an end part thereof and connected at tip part thereof to a commercial power supply, or a connection terminal to be connected to such a connection cord 5, a plug socket connected to the other end of the switch 3 and to an attachment plug of a power cord of an electric apparatus and provided in the rear part of the case body 2, and a display lamp disposed on a portion visible from the front of the case body 2 and lighted only when the switch 3 is turned on.
