PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct variations of an effective voltage by compensating waveform distortion caused by boundary horizontal crosstalk due to dullness of a scanning line driving waveform and changeover of signal line driving waveforms. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with a control circuit 1, an arithmetic calculating circuit 2, a compensation pulse decoder 3 and a timing control circuit 4, based on the number of changeovers of signal driving waveforms in a scanning line S2, and a difference between the number of changeovers of the signal line driving waveforms in a scanning line S1 precedent to the scanning line S2 and the number of changeovers of the signal driving waveforms in a scanning line S2, a leading part of the scanning line driving waveform in the scanning line S2 is handled as a non-selected potential for a prescribed period, and a tailing part of the scanning line driving waveform in the scanning line S2 is also handled as a non-selected potential for a prescribed period based on the number of changeovers of the signal line driving waveform in the scanning line S2.
