The invention relates to a transport and storage container (1) with a rectangular bottom (30) and four side walls (10, 20). The container (1) has the following characteristics: a) The upper part of the side walls (10, 20) can be folded towards the interior when the container (1) is empty; b) Two opposite first side walls (10) have wall end areas (11) that wrap around corners; c) The bottom (30) comprises two wall pedestal areas (31) which form the lower part of the first side walls (10); d) Two opposite second side walls (20) are provided with laterally protruding widenings (21) in the lower part thereof. The widenings (21) are arranged between the wall end areas (11) and the bottom (30) that wrap around corners, when seen in the longitudinal direction and when the side walls (10, 20) are erect. The inventive container is characterised in that the outer end area (211) of each widening (21) is enlarged upwards or downwards in a head-shaped or hammer-shaped manner when seen in the horizontal direction and in that the underside (110) of the corner-encompassing wall end areas (11) and/or the upper side (300) of the bottom (30) is/are provided with an undercut (111, 311) fitting to the widening-end area (211) in order to receive the widening-end area in a positive fit.
