摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display with improved display quality by surely preventing projecting and recessing parts, if ever present on the lower layer side, from being reflected as far as to a surface of an alignment layer so as to prevent the surface of the alignment layer from being scratched in rubbing. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal device, an interlayer insulation layer 191 on the lower layer side of an active matrix substrate AM and a protective film 45 equivalent to a substrate for an alignment layer 46 and a protective film equivalent to a substrate for an alignment layer of a counter substrate OP are all insulation layers formed with a polysilazane coated film. Consequently, as projecting and recessing parts of the lower side are preliminarily flattened, the surface of the alignment layer 46 is flattened. Therefore, the alignment layer 46 is not scratched in rubbing.</p>
