The sunroof has a roof section which is movable along the automobile longitudinal axis (9) between a closed position and an open position, under control of an electric drive motor (4), or a pair of electric drive motors, for displacement of respective operating cables (7,8) on either side of the roof section. The opening roof section can be provided by a number of lamella elements (2) extending one after the other across an opening (3) in the automobile roof (1) in the closed position and operated by a pair of operating cables (7,8), displaced by a drive spline (5) rotated directly by an electric motor (4) and by a drive spline (6) rotated by the displacement of the other cable respectively.
