The fuel injection pump (10) has a movable unit (20) for subjecting fuel in a fuel pressure chamber (17) to pressure, a cylinder (21) that supports the movable unit for reciprocal motion, a cam (31) mounted on a drive shaft with which it rotates, a drive force transfer element (32) between the cam and the movable unit for reciprocal movement of the movable unit in accordance with rotation of the cam, a bias device (27) for the movable unit and a reciprocal motion regulator that operates if the movable unit is raised above an upper dead point.
