The park bench has a fold-up seat surface (4) which when not in use is set vertical against the backrest protected from dirt and bird mess. A counter weight (2) acting on the transverse support (3) and not on the backrest eliminates the risk of squashing. The underneath of the seat surface can be used for advertising. Natural stone can be used as counter weight.
