PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily perform the switching display of a map. SOLUTION: The map display controller for displaying the map while switching a reduced scale is provided with a storage means 3 for storing map data, input means 1 and 2 for inputting a display request, a data reading means 40 for reading the map data from the storage means 3 on the basis of the display request of the input means 1 and 2, a display control means 45 for plotting the map on the basis of the map data read by the data reading means 40 and a display means 12 for displaying the map plotted by the display control means 45 on the basis of the display request of the input means 1 and 2. Thus, when the display control means 45 is to perform processing for plotting the map on the basis of the display request of reducing/expanding the map, the data reading means 40, parallel with the plotting, reads out the map data of the next reduced scale corresponding to the next predicted display request. |
