PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To search for a recommended route matching user's taste while facilitating user's operation to indicate a recommended route search. SOLUTION: Statistical data on the kinds of roads of <=100 km that an automobile equipped with a car navigation device 10 used are stored. According to the stored statistical data, a road kind matching the user's taste is searched for; when a search for a recommended route is indicated, user's indicating operation by road kinds is omitted and the recommended route to a destination is searched for under search conditions by the road kinds matching the user's taste searched for by the statistical data.
