PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a semiconductor-type motor starter which is small and is easily manufactured. SOLUTION: A semiconductor-type motor starter 10 is constituted of semiconductor power switches 46, 48 which are sandwiched and held between a pair of buses 32, 42. The motor starter is constituted of a electromagnetic relay 50, which is mounted across an input end part 36 and an output end part 44 in the reverse direction. The motor starter is constituted of a heat sink 64, a cooling fan 66 which is installed between the electromagnetic relay 50 and the heat sink 64. In addition, a pair of magnetic pins 124 which converge the magnetic flux of a current sensing region and a Hall effect sensor, which senses the current of the current sensing region of the bus 32, are installed. In a motor operating mode, a current is divided from the semiconductor power switches 46, 48, a substantially linear current passage is formed via the electromagnetic relay 50, power loss is reduced, and rise in heat is suppressed to a minimum.
