PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a speaker capable of providing a high sound quality. SOLUTION: Concerning a plane speaker in which a diaphragm for a plane speaker is provided inside an enclosure with no contact with the said enclosure, a number of ribs are provided for holding air including sonic waves and emitting the air in front of the diaphragm for the plane speaker, the rear side of the enclosure is opened, a hole part is formed on the diaphragm for the plane speaker, and on the rear side of the hole part, a speaker unit (diaphragm driving mechanism) 18 is provided. The speaker unit 18 is provided with a cone part 27 and a driving part 26 for vibrating the cone part 27, and the vibration of the cone part 27 is transmitted to the diaphragm for the plane speaker by a cylinder 25 abutting on one end to the cone part 27 and abutting on the other end to the said diaphragm for the plane speaker.
