<p>Method and apparatus for production of polyurethane foams. This invention relates to a one pass on demand process and apparatus for producing a controlled, homogeneous blend of the polyol-blowing agent mixture. The process is comprised of: (a) using variable flow rate distribution pumps for both materials (7, 14); (b) using mass flow meters (9, 15) to determine the mass flow rates of both materials; (c) using electronic controllers (8) to control the output of the pumps based on preselected input values to control the ratios of materials in the mixture; (d) feeding the mixture of materials into a blending zone (11); (e) applying kinetic energy to produce a homogeneous mixture; (f) using a back pressure control device (20) to ensure pressures above the vapor pressures of the blowing agent; and (g) passing the blend through a mass flow meter (19) to ensure accuracy of the mixture.</p> |
