PICTURE PROCESSOR AND PICTURE PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture processor that the processing of access can be simplified by correcting luminance information and the bit length of one group of color information, making luminance information and one group of corresponding color information into one group and storing them in a memory so that they can simultaneously be accessed. SOLUTION: A memory controller part 5 controls the writing and the reading of picture data into/from a memory part 6. Luminance data and one group of corresponding color difference data are made into a group and they are recorded in the memory part 6 by repetitively allocating same color difference data to two picture elements to which one group of color difference data are allocated in common. A pictured processor 1 makes luminance information and one group of corresponding color information into one group and stores them in the memory part 6 so that they can simultaneously be accessed. The bit lengths of luminance data and color difference data are corrected so that the bit lengths of one group of color difference data are equal and the bit length of color difference data becomes shorter than that of luminance data.
