PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up the reading of data and improve and reliability by avoiding a read failure to data of a random access system such as computer data or the like. SOLUTION: A plurality of optical heads 1a and 1b are set for reading data from an optical disk 6. The same data read by each of the optical heads are make agreed to with each other in transfer timing by timing adjustment circuits 2a and 2b, and sent to data demodulation circuits 3a and 3b, where the data are demodulated. The demodulated data are sent to error correcting circuits 4a and 4b, where errors are corrected. A selection circuit 5 receives the error- corrected data sent from each of the error-correcting circuits 4a and 4b and error information, selects and outputs correct data without errors or error- corrected correct data.
