A flywheel of an internal combustion engine, comprising a generally disk-shaped elastic plate (2) which is fixed to a crankshaft (1) on an internal side and has a flexibility in bending direction and a mass body (5) fixed to the outer peripheral side of the elastic plate (2), wherein an axial clearance (7) is provided between the elastic plate (2) and the mass body (5) on the radial outer side of the fixed position of the elastic plate to the crankshaft (1) and a spring member (10) having both ends in contact with the elastic plate (2) or the mass body (5) is disposed in the clearance (7), and a contact surface (2a) of the elastic plate (2) and a contact surface (10a) of the spring member (10) are formed, by bending, at those portions where the spring member (10) is in contact with the elastic plate (2) and the spring member (10) is in contact with the mass body (5), whereby the frictional contact of the spring member (10) becomes smoother, a stable friction damping effect can be obtained, and a local wear at these contact portions can be reduced.
