PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of correctly reading image data from a mass storing means, such as a hard disk storing image data. SOLUTION: Image data that is subjected to image formation is once written to a hard disk 304 from a page memory 301 via an LZ compression 303, subsequently required data is read from the disk 304 and written to the memory 301 via the LZ compression (extension setting) 303, and the image data written to the memory 301 is sent to a printing part 2 and is subjected to image formation. Then, when abnormality is detected when image data is read or written from/to the hard disk 304, writing from the memory 301 to the disk 304 is performed again.
