ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT CIRCULATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease data volume flowing through a communication line by making an object electronic document to be circulated present only in a document database and adding pointer information indicating the presence of the circulated document to electronic mail used as a means for circulation. SOLUTION: A list of electronic documents registered in the document database 23 is displayed on the display device of a circulation document transmitting terminal 25 and a list of circulation definition files registered on a disk is displayed. Then an object electronic document 24 to be circulated is selected out of the electronic documents, the document 24 and the circulation definition file 26 are correlated with each other and the contents of the circulation definition file 26 are inputted to generate circulation information management data. The data are transmitted by obtaining the pointer information indicating the location of the electronic document 24 and attaching the pointer information to electronic mail. Consequently, the data volume flowing on the communication line can be reduced.
