摘要 The invention relates to a method for performing optical monitoring of the cutting edge (9) of a tool (6) used in machining, said tool being made of a material transparent to an optical beam. The invention aims at providing an optical monitoring method that can also be applied during the machining process. To this end, an observation beam path (10, 12) is injected into the interior of the tool (6) and directed towards the cutting edge (9). The beam coming out of the cutting edge (9) due to the incident observation beam path and directed into the interior of the tool (6) is detected and evaluated outside the tool (6).
