The steering gear has an oscillation damper to compensate for oscillatory movements in the region of the gear rack(1). The gear rack has a cavity formed by a longitudinally extending bore(2), and the oscillation damper consists of at least one elastic connecting element in the form of a spring(4), and an additional mass(5), located in the cavity of the gear rack. The additional mass with regard to the longitudinal axis of the rack is movable in the axial direction relative to the rack.
