PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict cleaning failure and curving of a cleaning blade by reversely rotating an image carrier upon the completion of an image forming operation when the temperature of the surface of an image carrier is lower than a specific temperature, and inhibiting the reverse rotation of the image carrier when the temperature becomes higher than or equal to the specific value. SOLUTION: A detection signal from a temperature detection means 24 is fetched into a CPU 2, and whether the detected temperature of the surface of an image carrier is lower than a specific temperature or higher than or equal to the specific temperature is judged by the CPU 2. When the temperature of the surface of the image carrier is lower than the specific temperature, a motor 3 rotates, in response to an inversion drive signal from the CPU 2, in a direction opposite to a rotating direction used during image formation. Thus, the image carrier 1 is rotated in a second direction A1 for a specific period of time. Conversely when the detected temperature of the surface of the image carrier is higher than or equal to the specific temperature, the image carrier 1 is not rotated in the second direction A1 after stopping rotation in a first direction A. |
