PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compact and low d.c. resistance choke coil of which space factor of winding is improved. SOLUTION: This choke coil is composed of a combination of a first ferrite core 1a, a coil 2a and a second ferrite core 1b, and the coil 2a is formed by spirally winding a rectangular copper wire having a square section on a first layer and overlapping and winding spirally a lead part on the inner circumferential side on the winding on the first layer from the inner circumferential side to the outer circumferential side so that it becomes a second layer, and the first ferrite core 1a is a U-shape having a projection 7a in its central part, and then the second ferrite core 1b is also a U-shape having a projection 7b in its central part. Furthermore, in the coil 2a, its air-core is combined by means of the second ferrite core 1b and the projection 7b, and the first ferrite core 1a is assembled thereto, thereby forming a choke coil.
