PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical connector which can be improved in transmission efficiency, increased in productivity, and reduced in cost. SOLUTION: The optical connector 23 has sleeves 21 and 22 capable of optically connecting optical fibers and reception and transmission modules 4' and 4" between the optical fibers and reception and transmission modules 4' and 4"; and the sleeves 21 and 22 are equipped with nearly truncated cone type optical waveguides 26 which have side parts tapered gradually decreasing in diameter and the end surfaces of the optical waveguides 26 which have been reduced in diameter and made smaller are arranged opposite to the reception and transmission modules 4' and 4".
