PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a suspension device for a drop-type shock testing apparatus by which the point of time of the release of the suspension of a plumb hob can be controlled precisely. SOLUTION: The suspension device has a suspension part 9A, a hook 9B for suspension, which is shaft-supported by the suspension part 9A so as to be freely rotatable and which is coupled to a pin 5A installed at a plumb hob 5, a feed screw 13, a motor 12 which drives the feed screw 13, a controller 14 which controls the motor 12, a nut 16 which is screwed to the feed screw 13 so as to be moved linearly is provided, and a rod 17 which is attached between the nut 16 and the hook 9B for suspension. The feed screw 13 is driven by the motor 12, the nut 16 is moved, the hook 9B for suspension is turned, and the coupling of the hook 9B for suspension to the pin 5A at the plumb hob 5 is released.
