The two component parts (1, 2) have at least in a common transitional area the same contour along either their inner or outer circumferential faces corresponding with the ring (3) which is to contact the two components with friction. The friction heat required for friction welding is produced either through moving the ring and/or the two parts either in a rotary circumferential direction or an axially and/or circumferentially oscillating direction. The first component part has at the end a circumferential projection (4) of smaller cross section which is circumferentially overlapped by a circumferential section (5) of larger cross section of the second component part. At least the projection of the first part has a size to withstand the radial force introduced through the ring . This ring is after producing a common plastifying area pressed radially into same as extra welding aid.
