PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely provide a uniform water film on a wall surface which constitutes a filling material without the need of many holes and a nozzle, without the need of accurate positioning therefor, and without the need of additional insert such as a horizontal dispersion tube. SOLUTION: There is provided a cooling tower wherein warm water is sprinkled from a plurality of water sprinkling holes 6 provided at a lower portion of a warm water tank 5 to a filling member 12 located just below the holes, and fresh air is directly brought into contact with the warm water flowing down along the surface of the filling member to cool the warm water. In the water cooling tower, the filling member comprises flat plate shaped members 21 spaced away at an interval with each other. The flat plate shaped member includes protrusions 22 for interval separation, and at least a part of the protrusions includes a horizontal dispersion surface 23 located just under the water sprinkling hole 6 for dispersing horizontally sprinkled water along the surface of the filling material. At least a part of the protrusions 22 of the flat plate shaped member located just under the warm water tank comprises a first pan shaped protrusion 22a which includes a horizontal dispersion surface 23 for halving the flowing down warm water horizontally, paired water restriction protrusions 22b having a vertical surface separated by an interval D from opposite ends of the first pan shaped protrusion, and paired second pan shaped protrusions 22c having a horizontal dispersion surface 23 separated by an interval H from a lower end of the restriction protrusion. |
