Fiber bundles or rovings (1) are placed on a conveyor (4) with the required fiber orientation by a handling device (2). The fibers are secured in position by seams at successive stitching stations (5,6). Sandwich structures incorporating fabrics (8), films, honeycombs, foams can be built up to deal with expected forces in any direction.
