For a coarse setting, the travel of the door is divided into at least two sections, and the section boundaries are mechanically sensed. For a fine setting, or end position determination, the travel of the door from the section boundary to the respective end position is taken as a control variable for the drive (M). Alternatively, the number of rotations of the drive motor (M), a drive shaft, or door shaft may be used as the control variable, or the travel time to the end position. An Independent claim is included for a door drive and an end position cut-off circuit using a cam shaft encoder which registers the absolute position of the door.
